Donald Kuspit criticizes contemporary art and argues the end of unconscious with contemporary art in his book “End of Art”. On the other hand, he describes a series with the theme of the end of art. Kuspit mainly emphasizes that artistic creativity has changed and it has lost its meaning by means of modern art. This article aims to criticize these ideas. This article suggests that Kuspit’s narrative has problematic thinking and method. The problematic of Kuspit’s idea of end of art is the ignorance of contemporary art’s own categories, and Kuspit’s own way of interpretation of contemporary art misses the reality of contemporary art. Kuspit’s approach to modern art, in order to criticize contemporary art is in a selective manner.
