Death, from the past to the present one of many used in the field of art as an important theme. On the basis of the fact that the theme of death is created in art and creates its own frame of art, there is naturalness, universality and obligation that death has. Other elements that make this framework expand are the different descriptions, beliefs and myths of life after death. The concepts of religious subjects, dead burial rituals, death-life contrasts, pain, fear, forgottenness, dedication, and disappearance are often seen at the point of view of artists who describe death directly or indirectly. Besides cadaver, bone, skull, cemetery, blood, along with the questioning of the long and short life that is intertwined with violent events, mystical approaches depicted by mythological legends are sources of artistic work. Bertil Vallien, who has been working in this context and has an important place in contemporary glass art, stands out with its large-scale works, especially by using a very uncommon glass shaping technique. In addition to contributing to the advancement of the art of glass sculpture, using artifacts such as angels, faces, crosses and ladders in his works, he revealed the artistic expression of the theme of death. In this text, the use of the concept of death as art-related is explained through the work of glass artist Bertil Vallien. In order to reveal the conceptual approach of the artist to the glass sculptures, which are called death boats, the relation established by the death theme is evaluated.
