Because of our country’s location, its geographical characteristics and its historical background, it has a very diverse and rich potential, not only with its natural beauty, but also with the values left from the past societies and civilizations. Turkey, even with its cultural heritage in its apparent state as a "open-air museum", is open to great developments in the field of cultural heritage research. Today, numerous disciplines, cultural and cultural heritage research is carried out, and they approach this topic from a wide range of points of view. Among these, history and geography are one of the first disciplines to be understood since the past and the state of history in our country is in the past, and geography seems to be focused on cultural issues today. Therefore, the historical geography that remains between the geography that makes spatial research without historical depth and the historical discipline that deals with the past, mostly without spatial perspective, has a much broader perspective in this context. Since all human activities take place on space, culture has an extremely important place in the geography, which is a spatial-based discipline. Since historical geography and heritage directly refers to the past, the subject of cultural heritage also has a similar position in historical geography. Furthermore, since the whole cultural heritage is located on the site, the historical geography that focuses on the research of the site in the past is also attracted in cultural heritage studies. From this point, the necessary arrangements in our educational and scientific life must be made, sufficient researchers and experts in the historic geography must be trained, the rich cultural heritage of our country, the scientific community and cultural tourism and other users must be quickly provided to the service. Due to its location, geographical feature sand history of settlements date back to the old times, our country has a large variety and wealthy potential in terms of not only its natural beatuies but also the values of past society and civilizations. Turkey, is just like "open air museum" with its cultural heritage in visible form, is open to great developments in terms of cultural heritage researches. Today, a large number of disciplines conduct a research with regard to the cultural and cultural heritage and approach this subject from various aspects. Among them, history and geography are among the first disciplines come to mind and as in our country it seems that history concentrates on the past; geography concentrates on modern day’s cultural subjects. Therefore, historical geography, remaining in between geography that does spatial research without historical depth hand history discipline which deals with past with out looking at the subject in terms of spatial, has wider perspective in this context. Since all human activities take place on space, culture takes an important place in geography which is space-based discipline. Cultural heritage has a similar position in historical geography because of historical geography and culture refer directly to the past. Moreover, since all of the cultural heritage is located on space, historical geography, which focuses on researching of pastspace, also draw attention in cultural heritage studies. From this point, doing necessary arrangements in educational and scientific life, enough researcher and expert should be educated in historical geography and rich cultural heritage of our country should take into service to the scientific community, cultural tourism and other users.
