Abstract:

Tradition is the deving cycle of a nation’s cultural accumulation. The concept of tradition that exists in all civilizations shows itself in art, architecture, theology, anthropological elements, and especially literature. The literature of the peoples on the world is joined with tradition and takes its current shape. In national literature, the tradition, which is the accumulation of public literature products and other written literary concepts, also reflects the Turkish literature. This accumulation can be defined as a common heritage of divan literature and public literature in Turkish literature. Many of the poets in Turkish literature are influenced by tradition. Some poets reject the tradition and some support. Being influenced by the tradition, defending or resisting it, continues until today without losing its traces. One of the poets today that we see the influence of the tradition intensely in our literature is Nurullah Young. The young man translates both the narrative elements of the folk literature and the Islamic esthetics, which is the essence of the divan tradition, to his poems. The poet’s book that describes this synthesis is Rose and I. Discovering the elements of the tradition in his poems becomes important in terms of seeing the connection of today’s poetry with the tradition.
