Geleneksel kolan ve çarpana dokumacılığı gün geçtikçe eski işlevini, hem de önemini kaybetmeye başlamıştır. Dolaysıyla kolan ve çarpana dokumacılığı zanaatını günlük hayatımıza uygun bir şekilde geliştirmemiz gerekmektedir. El sanatların en önemli öğesi, duygu, istek ve düşüncelerini kelimesiz dile getiren motiflere sahip olmasıdır. Motifler, bir milletin milli kültürüne belli bir anlam yükleyen somut nesnesidir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, kaybolmaya yüz tutmuş kolan ve çarpana dokumacılığını araştırmak, Kazak kolan dokumalarında bulunan motifleri inceleyerek, çarpana dokumalarında uygulamak ve değişik malzemelerle birleştirilerek yeni tasarımlara dönüştürmektir. Bu çalışmada Kazak kültüründe yer alan kolan dokuma motifleri incelendikten sonra, bu motifler kullanılarak çarpana dokuma için desen raporları hazırlanmıştır. Bu rapora göre dokunan çarpanalar, keçe ve tüllerle birleştirilerek dört parçalık bir koleksiyon hazırlanmıştır.
Traditional "girth" (colan) and "card or tablet weaving" (carpana) have begun to lose their old purpose of use and importance as well. Therefore, they need to be adapted and improved so as to meet current conditions of life and expectations of people. The most important element of handicrafts is that it has motives that express emotions, wishes and thoughts without words. Motifs are the concrete object of a nation that has a certain meaning to the national culture. The aim of the study was to investigate entrance and card weaving that have been disappearing, and find a way to apply motifs used in Kazakh's weaving into entrance and card weaving, and transform them into new design by combining with different motifs. Therefore, in this study, weaving motifs used in Kazakhs culture were examined and then tablet weaving patterns were prepared. Based on the weaving pattern, tablet weavings were combined with felt and tulle and a collection consisting of four pieces was prepared.
