The aim of this research is to reveal the history teachers' opinions concerning the acquisition level of general objectives of history courses for students included in history course curriculums which began to be applied in secondary education institutions in Turkey since the academic year of 2008-2009. The population of descriptive study in general survey model was composed of 943 history teachers working in secondary educational institutions in the center of Ankara province and its districts during 2013-2014 academic year; and the sample was composed of 371 history teachers who were selected through random sampling from within this population. In the study, questionnaire forms, which were developed by the researcher for data collection in the manner that it could measure the "opinions concerning the acquisition level of the said objectives in courses for students" as a four grade by giving the general objectives of the history courses included in the curriculums sequentially as they are, were used, and the data obtained from questionnaire forms were analyzed in SPSS software. According to research results, it was concluded that history teachers thought that traditional objectives for the development of citizenship consciousness and information transfer included in the general objectives of the history courses were provided to students at higher level, on the contrary, the objectives to bring a variety of skills for students, especially the historiography skills were at lower levels. This situation suggests the necessity to make improvement in areas such as students' readiness levels, number of students in class, the amount of weekly course hours allocated to history courses, technological and physical infrastructure and facilities of the schools as well as the history teachers' in-service training needs for the acquisition of the general approach and the logic of new curriculums and teaching knowledge and skills required by these programs.
