Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to determine the metaphoric perceptions of the teacher candidates regarding the educational films for class management courses.  In the research, the phenomenological patterns of the quality research methods were used. The study group of the research 2017 - 2018 educational year is composed of 75 science knowledge teachers candidates who received the class management course in the good period. Data class management courses have been obtained through metaphors from teachers candidates who are processing through the films announced to be watched by teachers during the National Education Ministry’s September 2017 seminar period. The candidates were asked to complete the phrase "Films on the subject of education are like ... for class management courses; because ..." The data has been analyzed through the analytical content analysis. According to this, 57 metaphors were collected in 8 categories. These categories are in the form of being a place to learn and acquire information, being a guide for situations that are not yet encountered, being a complementary for class management lessons, being a means of presenting life experience, being a means of teaching, being a reflection of theoretical knowledge, being a means of preparation for the profession, being a means of presenting model. As a result, it can be said that the processing of class management courses by the way of educational thematic films reflects the teacher candidates in a positive direction. It is believed that the study could contribute to the field writing in the context of questioning the philosophical and theoretical foundations of the educational films for class management and could create a reference point for subsequent studies.
