Abstract:

The rapid growth in carbon dioxide emission after the industrial revolution became the primary reason of global warming. Global warming and climate change are one of the major environmental problems that threaten the world. Market mechanism is taught to play a vital role in reducing the greenhouse gases as there is a need for reducing the greenhouse gas emission which causes global warming. In this context a carbon market which will operate according to market rules is seen as an important tool in reducing the emissions. Recently carbon based spot and futures contract are traded all over the world. The aim of the study is to examine the widely traded CER futures contracts in carbon market
