The consumption of natural resources, global warming, climate change and the ever increasing worldwide energy use have brought renewable energy sources to forefront. Given the possibility of depletion of fossil fuels in the near future, the utilization of clean and renewable energy sources, which can be used directly in their natural flow or can be converted into energy sources, have become inevitable. During the recent years, the production and use of renewable energy sources show an increasing trend in OECD countries, among which Turkey is present as one of the 20 founding members. Thus, many OECD countries have developed government policies to ensure the production and use of renewable energy and promote the respective new investments. Similarly, the regulations in Turkey in the recent years with rexpect to renewable energy sources support new investments in this area. Thus, the aim of this study is to set forth the situation of Turkey in terms of renewable energy use as an OECD country, using descriptive statistics. To this end, the respective OECD data for the last five years have been studied to observe the impact of the investments and to determine the current renewable energy status of Turkey compared to OECD Europe, OECD Asia-Oceania, and OECD America.
