Clean, economic and efficient using of energy, is one of today’s indispensable consumption instrument, is the most important criterion which indicates the development level of countries. The consumption of natural resources, global warming, climate change and the ever-increasing worldwide energy use have brought renewable energy source to forefront. Because of increasing population, living standards and tendency towards the new technologies, our developing country has to consume more energy each year. Although Turkey’s energy resources have a wide variety, the current primary energy sources are inadequate to meet the demand. The small amount of renewable energy among energy sources and not taken decisive steps lead to inadequacy in resource diversity and continue to depend on foreign energy. Many EU countries have developed government policies to ensure the production and use of renewable energy and promote new investments. In this study, a general evaluation of Turkey’s wind energy policy was made by comparing Turkey’s increasing using of wind energy and the studies that EU has done in this area.
