A Research on the writing activities of Yeni Hitit Turkish for Foreigners Course Book 2 One of the four basic language skills, writing skill is a narration-based skill. Through the writing exercises, the achievement levels of students in terms of reading, listening, speaking and grammar can be determined explicitly. Course books are among the most important materials for foreign language instruction and they should consist of well-thought writing activities. In this study, writing instruction, its phases and sample activities are provided and the answers to the following questions are sought. Which writing methods are included in the writing activities of Yeni Hitit Turkish for Foreigners Course Book 2? Which writing activities are provided in the Yeni Hitit Turkish for Foreigners Course Book 2? In the light of these questions, the efficiency and inadequacy of writing activities in Yeni Hitit Turkish for Foreigners Course Book 2 are determined for the purpose of serving Turkish as a Foreign Language instruction. In the aforementioned book, there are 30 writing activities. Those activities make use of motivated writing, critical writing, gap filling, writing by selecting among the concept pool, controlled writing, text completion, creative writing and summarizing methods. Among them, the most frequent one is motivated writing whereas the least preferred one is creative writing. Yeni Hitit Turkish for Foreigners Course Book 2 needs to be enriched with writing activities and extra materials to ensure efficient and willing participation of the students.
