Abstract:

The effects of lesson plans, which are prepared in terms of 5E education model for out‐of‐ class settings, on academic achievement of Science course are examined in this study. 60 secondary school students including 30 experiment and 30 control groups attended to this study which took place in a secondary school of the Ministry of Education in 2014‐2015 academic year. For the study, which was performed in terms of pretest‐posttest experimental design, 6th grade “Force and Motion” unit was selected. For the study which lasted for 4 weeks, lesson plans which are prepared in terms of 5E education model for out‐of‐class settings were practiced while lessons were taught according to education program in control group. Data from the study was taken from the academic achievement test and semi‐structured interview form that was developed by the researcher. As a result of the study, it was determined that both groups academic achievement increased significantly. In addition, as a result of the analysis that was made on experimental group students and control group students, a significant difference was seen in favour of experimental group.
