Fizyolojik bir durum göstergesi olan yaşlanma ve yaşlanan nüfus; sağlık alanında gerçekleşen teknolojik gelişmelerle doğrudan ilişkilidir. Ortalama yaşam sürelerinin artış göstermesi toplumların refah düzeylerini göstermekle birlikte, üretici durumda bulunan işgücünün de yaşlanmasını ifade etmektedir. Sağlık alanında meydana gelen gelişmelerin ortalama yaşam sürelerini sürekli arttırması sadece gelişmiş ülkeler için değil gelişmekte olan ülkeler için de önem kazanmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı ülkelerin değişen demografilerinin emek piyasalarına etkilerini analiz etmektir. Bu amaçla G8 ülkeleri olan; Almanya, Fransa, Birleşik Krallık, ABD, Kanada, İtalya, Japonya, Rusya ile birlikte Dünyadaki genel görünüm karşılaştırılmıştır. Bu karşılaştırma OECD, Birleşmiş Milletler ve ILO verileri ve nüfus projeksiyonları çerçevesinde analiz edilmiştir. Yapılan analiz sonucunda: Rusya ve ABD’nin Dünya ortalamasınayakın G8 ülkeleri olduğu görülmekle birlikte; işgücünün tüm ülkelerde daraldığı ve üretici durumda bulunan nüfusun azaldığı görülmüştür. Yaşlanma ile mücadelede hayat boyu öğrenme, aktif yaşlanma gibi programların yanı sıra kontrollü göçmen politikaları uygulanmaktadır.
