Objectives: The research has two aims. The first aim of the research is to make adaptation study for academicians of the organizational silence scale developed by Kahveci and Demirtaş (2013) for teachers. The second aim of this study is to examine whether there is a difference between the socio-demographic variables of academicians' perceptions of organizational silence and the academicians working at state and foundation universities. In the research, convenience sampling method is used, which is one of the non-probability-based sampling techniques. Method: The data, collected through the participation of 137 academicians at four different universities in Marmara Region and survey techniques, were analyzed using SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 21.0 statistical program. Data obtained from research has been evaluated by explanatory and confirmatory factor analysis, Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis H tests. Findings: According to the results of the research, it was found that the organizational silence scale is valid and reliable for the academicians. Findings from the study showed that academicians differ in terms of their educational level with based on external environment silence and defensive silence, working unit with based on external environment silence and the reasons for their silence in terms of titles with defensive silence.
