In the emergence of the secretariat as a profession, the necessities of keeping the decisions made in any management level as secret and recording them have been effective. In the changing world and in the new formations of business world, the scope and quality of secretariat profession have been changed and developed with need for secretaries. It is expected that attaining the knowledge, skills, competencies, and acquisitions belonging to a profession by programmed learning brings profession and also members of it in perfection and value. At the present time secretariats have been training in the Department of Office Management and Executive Assistantship (BYA) at the Junior Technical Colleges within universities in the scope of vocational education. In this study the perceptions of the students attending office management and executive assistantship program related to secretariat profession are investigated using qualitative research method. The results of the study indicated that training has positive effect on perceptions related to profession. Also it is understood that, as well as there are differences in public and private sector, students perceive secretariat as an administrative assistant who has managerial and organizational knowledge and skills and an important professional adviser to managers.
