In this article, by posing a Deleuzeian critical and political question of usefulness and efficacy of theory I want to analyse recent Hollywood mainstream film Geostorm. Instead of what meaning the film hides and reveals, by bringing together and engaging with the popular use of science and ideology, and an encounter with the theory I justify my ideas and clear the ideological messages of Hollywood science fiction and action film - Geostorm- . In the study, I want to commence to explain Gilles Deleuze’s philosophical concepts of reformulation of the critical, political nature of philosophy. I will focuse and discuss influential traditions of understanding affect theory and necessary media theories by reading the film. There will be revealings about Oedipus–Anti Oedipus, and Body without Organs –BwO- concepts. More of the discussions which is about affect in media including cinema theory and aesthetics consider carefully matters of the production and transmission of affect that is mass culture products and artworks produce and transmit affect. I suggest to explain the major issues the film explicitly addressed- survival of the world, heros, resurrection/redemption of the main character, love of mankind, and to discuss them in relation to Hollywood’s ideology in a consumption society. In the film it is also explained that an American world saviour, who has the ability of travelling between the outerspace and the world with the help of technology, turns into a BwO. I believe that this study would be useful because virtual bodies, computers, cyberbodies, hypertext bodies, and destructive aliens of other corporealities continue to populate the ongoing discourses including new media, and mainstream films.
