Bu çalışmanın amacı öğrencilerin Facebook kulanım amaçlarını ve Facebook kullanımına ilişkin görüşlerini belirlemektir. Araştırma niceliksel bir çalışma olup, araştırmada betimsel tarama yöntemi kullanılmıştır . İnternet kullanıcılarına yüz yüze ulaşma zorluğundan dolayı, araştırma verileri seçkisiz olmayan örnekleme yöntemlerinden uygun örnekleme yöntemi seçilerek toplanmıştır. Araştırmada üniversite düzeyindeki öğrencilerden veri elde edilmiştir. Facebook sosyal medya aracını kullananlar arasından seçilmiş 270 lisans öğrencisine internet üzerinden oluşturulan anket ile ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmada sorular 5’li likert tipi anket olarak hazırlanmıştır. Ankette öğrencilerin cinsiyet, okul düzeyi, Facebook kullanma sıklığı, Facebook’ta kalma süresi ve üye oldukları gruplar ile birlikte çeşitli eğitimsel ve sosyal konularda görüşleri sorulmuştur. Araştırma sonucunda demografik verilerin yanı sıra Facebook’un eğitim, iletişim, tüketim, sosyal karşılaştırma, mutluluk, şiddet içerikli haberler, dikkat dağıtıcılığı gibi bir dizi insan hayatını etkilediği düşünülen konularla ilgili öğrencilerin düşünceleri elde edilmiştir. Sonuçlar; lisans öğrencilerinin Facebook kullanmanın çeşitli konularda olumsuz olabilecek yönlerinin farkında olduklarını ancak buna rağmen kendilerine fayda sağlayan yönleri olduğu için kullandıklarını da belirtmektedirler.
The aim of this study is to identify the students’ view on the purpose of using Facebook and their views on the use of Facebook. The research is a quantitative study, and the research uses the visual scan method. Due to the difficulty of face-to-face access to Internet users, research data has been collected by selecting the appropriate sampling method from non-selective sampling methods. The research was obtained from students at university level. A survey of 270 bachelor students from the social media media users has been reached via the internet. In the study, the questions were prepared as a likert type survey of 5. The survey questioned students’ opinions on gender, school level, frequency of use of Facebook, the duration of their stay on Facebook and the groups in which they are members, along with various educational and social issues. The research resulted in the demographic data as well as the opinions of students on a series of topics that Facebook is believed to affect human life, such as education, communication, consumption, social comparison, happiness, violence news, distribution of attention. The findings also indicate that graduate students are aware of the aspects of using Facebook that may be negative in various subjects, but they use it because it has its benefits.
