Mevleviyeh, whose foundations were laid in Anatolia in the thirteenth century, after its establishment, scattered initially in Anatolia and then within the time it spread over various regions. Mevlevilodges which were establish in severals cities of Ottoman geography contributed to the proliferation of the dervish order. Mevlevis’ organization in South East Anatolia started in 1517 after Syria and Egypt fell under the Ottoman rule. Soon after of the year 1516 – in which the region came under Ottoman rule— the Mevlevi-Lodges of Kilis (in 1525), Halep (around 1530) and Antep-Ayıntab (in 1638) were constructed. Antep Mevlevi-Lodge, the largest Mevlevi monastery in South East Anatolia, was the attribute of a menzil (station) zawiyah. At today’s Gaziantep, Mevlevi lodge that is known as Mevlevi-Lodge- Mosque or as Mustafa Aga Mosque is situated at the province of Sahinbey and Kozluca neighbourhood was built by the governor of a sanjak ‘’Turcoman’’ Mustafa Aga in the year Hijri 1048/and anno domini 1638. Mustafa Aga according to his pious foundation endowment which was designated in the year Hijri 1050/ and anno domini 1640 he put forward a condition within his endowment that his brother Şaban Dede’s son Mehmed Dede and people coming from Mehmed Dede’s lineage to be appointed as a Sheik-Trustee to the Mevlevi lodge he built. According to pious foundation endowment, there is a whirling-room, praying room,a large room that is allocated to Sheik Mehmet Efendi’s residing,includes for dervishes nine cells, and a lodge with pool inside garden were built. And also it is stated that within the income sources of the Mevlevi-Lodge there are two dyehouses, one flour-trap, twenty shops, one barn and an inn which has twenty rooms. After the founder Mustafa Aga endowments were allocated by Emine Hatun and Sheik Mehmed Münip Efendi to Mevlevi-Lodge in numerous times.
