Since the middle of the 18th century, Hâfız Mustafa Pasha, who was serving as governor of Erzurum, Damascus, Diyarbekir and Baghdad, besides Çavuşbaşı, Kapıcıbaşı and Keban-Ergani Maden Emini, provided the opportunity to construct many charitable institutions with his political position and economic income. His main charitable institutions are primary school in Keban, dârü’l-kurra in Harput, two madrasahs and a library in Arapgir and primary school and a mosque in Malatya. Some of them are not present today, but some of them still exist. In this study, the contributions of these foundation institutions and their contribution to the education and socio-cultural life of the region were examined through endowment and other archive documents.
