After the World War, Europe has entered the process of economic integration in order to enable diversification, in particular in world trade, to revive foreign trade and establish various organizations. The important and effective of these is the GB (Customs Union) applied among members in the structure called the EU (European Union) today. With the signing of the Paris Treaty (Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg), the foundation of the future EU has been set. Turkey is a country that wants to become a member of the European Union and strives for it. In this context, Turkey demonstrates its work on this issue by developing its relations with Western organizations in economic, political, cultural and security areas. The Partnership Treaty between Turkey and the European Economic Community, signed in 1963, formed the foundation of relations with the European countries. The Customs Union Treaty, signed in 1996, is a turning point for relationships. The EU-Turkey relations came to the full perspective of membership with the acceptance of the candidacy of Turkey at the summit held in Helsinki on 10-12 December 1999. The prepared compliance legislation packages, the progress reports of Turkey, the national programs, the decisions taken at the EU summits have made Turkey a step further closer to the EU. In accordance with the decision taken at the intergovernmental conference held in Luxembourg on October 3, 2005, the EU began full membership negotiations with Turkey.
