Abstract:

Some of the works Târîh i Enbiyâ and Hükemâ Târîh i Mülûk i ‘Acem and Münşe’ât of famous artist of Chagatay literature Ali Şir Nevâyî in which the idioms are used as verb and assimilated with Persian are examined in this study By the help of Persian dictionaries it is fixed on verbal idioms those are seen in common explanation model with Persian The relations between Turkish and Persian in different periods caused similarities between two languages As well as these similarities there are similarities in idioms too Some of the idioms are used as verbs In the beginning of the study characteristics of the idioms and the opinions on whether they can be accepted as compound verbs or not are examined In three works it is understood that 61 idioms which are used in Chagatay as verbs are similiar with Persian Key words: idiom idiomatics translations loanwords compound verb Ali Şir Nevâyî Chagatay
