Idioms are grammatical structures revealing the conceptual world of nations shaped as a result of their way of life and the reflection of this life style in the language. It is seen that grammatical structures grow away from their lexical meanings transforming into groups with idiosyntactic structural principles and gain new and different meanings. At this stage it is important to tackle the formation of an idiom in order to be able to determine the reasons behind the use words of a nation in different meanings and semantic connections, when doing so. The purpose of this study is to draw the main lines of idiomized compound verbs in 11th-13th centuries Qarakhanid Turkic, which display the characteristics of being a follow up of the Old Turkic literary language. Thus it aims to contribute to the understanding on how Ancient Turks changed verbs semantically. To that end works written with Qarakhanid Turkic, namely Qutadgu Bilig, Atabatu`l-Haqayiq, Divanu Lugati`t-Turk and Quran Translations are scanned and compound verbs are presented to the benefit of the scholarly world.
