Abstract:

This research is aimed at determining the perceptions of the primary education inspectors concerning the constructivist curriculum and the level of creating constructivist learning environment by the teachers The perceptions of primary education inspectors concerning the constructivist curriculum is measured by 8220;Constructivist Curriculum Inventory 8221; which is developed by researchers and the level of creating constructivist learning environment by the teachers is measured by 8220;Constructivist Learning Environment Scale 8221; which is developed by Tenenbaum Naidu Jegede and Austin 2001 and adapted to Turkish by Fer and Cırık 2006 The measurement instrument was administered on 403 primary education inspectors attending to the 8220;The Course of Improving Instruction Process 8221; in 2008 As a result of the study it was shown that inspectors 8217; opinion about constructivism shows parallelism with the literature of the constructivist learning In reference to the results of the research most of the inspectors agree on that teachers create the constructivist learning environment partially and mid level Most of the inspectors strongly agree that families have lack of information about constructivist curriculum teachers cannot give up teacher centered education and carrying educational materials gives students extra load Besides at the end of the study experienced inspectors perceive learning environment more constructivist than the inexperienced inspectors Key words: Constructivism learning environment primary education inspectors teachers elementary education
