Özet:

The Turkish-German relations go back to the 11th century and have undergone changes throughout the history until now. While the reason for these changes is religious motives on the one hand; on the other hand, self-interests come to the fore. Both reasons have influenced and have changed the lives of the two nations. These changes are also reflected in the same way in the literary works of two nations. In the first part of this study, the historical development of Turkish-German relations will be analyzed and how the relations have affeted the two countries" cultural life in a theoretical way are going to be put forward. The aforementioned relations are specifically going to be examined in terms of the approaches of the post-stagnation period of the Ottoman Empire. These relations are going to be analyzed setting out from Gerdes" "Turks in Berlin". In this regard, examples that relate to the military, economic, and political interactions "impact on the literatures of the two cultures will be provided and the reflections of these interactions to the present times will be examined. In the end, we will see how the negative image of the Turkish people, which is caused by the churches' sermons, has changed with Diez' work and has created an effect on German writers such as Lessing's and Goethe's Works. In the final part, how historical events directly affect literature is going to be asserted. In addition; this study is going to investigate how contemporary relations fluctuate and how these fluctuations are reflected in contemporary literature.
