Abstract:

The purpose of the study is to reveal the characteristics of the evidence they produce in the field of analysis by the candidates for math teachers. In order to this goal, the evidence produced by the teachers candidates was studied towards the theories on the basic subjects of the analysis. The study that is adopted by the quality research approach is a case study. The research group of the study consists of eight teachers candidates who study in the third class of primary mathematics teaching at a state university located in Turkey. The data of the study was collected with the help of clinical interviews based on activity. Each teacher has been interviewed four times. Interviews forms, respectively, include the formal definitions required for the teacher candidates in the proper suggestions and evidence on functions, series, limit-continuity and derivative issues. Teachers are asked to make a decision on whether the suggestions are correct and to verify the decisions they make. The study found that the teacher candidates had no difficulty in choosing the recommendations. The teachers’ proof skills are very low. It has been revealed that the produced evidence has eight false characteristics, including the correct proof, the partially correct proof, the invalid proof, the explanation, the verification by sample, the manipulation of definitions, the copying of definitions, the unfinished proof and the writing of hypotheses. Also, high-level academic success teachers candidates have mostly detective proof schemes, while the average level of success teachers candidates have detective, tubing and external proof schemes.
