Abstract:

The aim of this research is to identify the primary school teacher candidates’ perceptions that are about values by means of metaphores. 135 primary school teacher candidates  consist of the research’s study group who are senior class students in Adnan Menderes University in 2014-15 education year. The study group is accessible sample group. Some questions were asked to participants about the value and some forms were given them.  First question was “what is the meaning of value”. In order to collect data participants were asked to complete the prompt   “Values are like…………because…….” By means of these forms students’ thoughts about values and metaphores about values will be revealed. This research is a qualitative. In data analysis  content analyse method was used.  Primary teacher candidates’ views about values were collected in 7 main themes and reached 330 different views. Participants produced 107 proper metaphores about value concepts. Later,these metaphores were collected under 7 different categories according to common charecteristics.
