Abstract:

That teachers should have which features and characteristics of the ideal teacher that what matters is receiving considerable attention in the literature. Teacher training school with particularly positive psychology and positive increase in the number of studies focusing on the strong character traits are observed. The strong character of the teachers, it is known that one of the features of altruism. But in our country work towards an understanding of the attitudes of the teacher candidates of altruism was found to be quite limited. In this study, it was aimed to investigate whether it shows or not, a statistically significant difference to demographic variables (gender, grade level, socioeconomic status, section)determined altruism attitudes of college students. Research group consists of 517 (369 female, 128 men, 20 have not specified) people who study in different parts of the Sakarya University Faculty of Education in the academic year 2014-2015 . In order to measure altruism attitudes of college students, "Personal Information Form" and "Altruism Scale" was used. The obtained data were analyzed by SPSS 22.0 software package. According to the data obtained from participants, Independent Samples T-test was used in order to examine whether altruism statically differs according to gender and One Way ANOVA Test was used to examine whether it differs on the basis of socioeconomic level, class level, and section.: It was found out in results of T-test and One-Way Anova that altruism attitudes vary only by section and there is no statically significant difference in terms of gender, class level and socioeconomic level.
