Abstract Universities exert influence on the economic, social and cultural structure of the cities in which they are located. In particular the expenditures made by university students constitute a group of spending which bring life to the local economy. This paper analyses the amount, composition and contribution to local economy of the expenditures by Usak University students. In addition, the effect of sex of students on the size and composition of their spending behavior has been examined. Key Words: Student expenditures, local economy, university, Usak.
