Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to determine the opinions of prospective teachers on postgraduate education. The study has utilized the design of “Case Study” which is one of the qualitative research designs. The major characteristic of qualitative case study is that it examines one or more cases thoroughly. The study group of the research is composed of the prospective teachers in Faculty of Education of Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University in the academic year of 2013-2014. The study has used criterion sampling which is one of the types of purposive samplings. The sampling of the study consists of prospective teachers (12 female and 12 male) who study in different Departments of Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University in the academic year of 2013-2014 and wish to have a postgraduate education. The study utilized semi-structured, non-directive interview technique as the data collection tools. The content analysis technique is used in the analysis of interview questions. The prospective teachers have been observed to pursuing a postgraduate education for different reasons. The study has found that the preparation of prospective teachers for postgraduate education in order to meet the application requirements of postgraduate education. It has been concluded that the prospective teachers reflect they may encounter various problems during postgraduate education.
