Abstract:

With the emergence of the phenomenon of globalization, we see that in the human dimension of our deeply affected life, which covers moral and spiritual values, many changes continue. The newly-adult generations have become better than before in terms of nutrition, education and healthcare. But it is also a fact that they are faced with many moral problems alone. The importance of education is increasing in the face of these problems that arise.The concept of education of values has become popular especially in recent years after the search for a solution to these moral and spiritual values problems that societies face. With the latest program changes started in 2004 in our country, the values of the teaching program of many lessons have been included in education. In our country, a significant portion of the knowledge, skills and values they will use throughout their lives are obtained through social knowledge and life knowledge courses taught in primary schools. Therefore, the Social Information course is one of the important courses that are held in primary schools. The latest published Social Information course is observed that when the curriculum is studied, value education is paid great attention. For this course is considered important in the name of socialization of the child and is used as a tool in citizenship education.From previous research, it is clear that the values of education practices performed in primary education social information classes are insufficient, that teachers do not know the values of education and that the lessons are also missing in this regard. The latest social information program appears to be quite functional and sufficient in terms of values education. But this remains on the paper, the lack and failures in the application continue. This deficiency can only be solved by practical research. For this reason, the activities prepared in this study – both in the past social information programs and in the new program – to gain the value of “sensitivity” were applied to primary school sixth grade students. In this study, the "Action Research" (Action Research) is used within the quality research patterns. Individuals involved in action research are able to monitor the process of application directly within their natural environments, to determine the appropriate methods of data collection (such as individual/group interviews, document analysis), to make decisions in a flexible structure, such as data recovery according to the findings arising from the analysis of the collected data. The study group was formed by 21 sixth-class students who studied at the Fatih Primary School in Düzce ili Gümüşova district. Of the 21 students in the study group, 11 are girls and 10 are boys. When the study group is selected, the easy-to-accessful state sample method was used from the purpose sample methods. In this study, interview and document analysis were applied to collect data. The work sheets obtained as a result of the application of the interviews forms and activities have been subjected to document analysis. The documents obtained are subject to quality content analysis and codes are also tried to get to themes. The research finds that, given the data obtained about the sensitivity value, there is a great difference between the number of speeches indicated in the preliminary and final interviews results. These differences appear in all subdimensional sensitivity values. The results obtained by the study show that the activities aimed at the education of values improve the level of awareness of students.
