Polish-born Siberian exile Vatslav Leopold Seroshevsky spent a period of his life as a political exile in the territory of Yakutia. However, his exile period led to the birth of an important work for Turkish history of science. His study which was reputed with the “Yakuty” title in scientific literature and published in 1896 was almost the most comprehensive work about the Sakha Turks until that time. Vatslav Leopold Seroshevsky’s contribution to Turkish culture is not limited only with this work. Seroshevsky who married in exile in these lands and admired the nature of this country brought the Sakha Turks’ name, traditions and lifestyles to Russian literature with his stories at the same time. While Russian scientist familiarized Sakha Turks with Seroshevsky’s work entitled as “Yakuty”, Russian reader learned from his stories Sakha Turks’ proud but miserable life
