Abstract:

Namık Kemal and Ziya Pasha are important intellectuals, poets and writers ofTanzimat period. They were dominant literary figures of their times. By theiractivisms and writings they gained a special place both in Turkish history and inmodern Turkish literature. These two intellectuals shared the same ideologicaland literary views at the beginning but after a while they contradicted eachother. However their important contributions maintained. These two writerswrote books under the same title at different times. The title was “Rüya”(TheDream). This study examines these two books in terms of their fictions, contents,narrations, style of writing and the motives to write such a book. This studypresents the resemblances and differences of the books, thus these similar booksof the two intellectuals of the Tanzimat period are examined and compared indetail
