This study investigated the frequency of English language use among Meranao students of oral communication subject in the different speech domains in the Mindanao State University (MSU), Marawi, and their orientation/s in using and learning the English language. Meranao which means “people of the lake”, largely settle in the region surrounding the basin of Lake Lanao who are adherents of Islam. This study combined both quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis procedure. This used purposive sampling method in gathering fifty (50) Meranao students of Oral Communication subject as respondents of this study. For instrumentation, questionnaire and focus group discussion (FGD) were employed. It was found that, generally, the respondents sometimes use English language in the different domains and speech situations in the university. Furthermore, respondents were instrumentally oriented in their English language learning.
