The main purpose of this study is to determine the effects of self-esteem on each conflict management styles referred as integrating, avoiding, dominating, and obliging. The sub-purposes of this study are to determine the relationships between self-esteem and each conflict management styles and differences between conflict management styles according to some socio-demographic characteristics of the participants. Study questionnaires which include quantitative components were distributed to 267 physicians who are working at a university hospital. In this study, participation was voluntary and 183 of those 267 subjects returned the questionnaires with a response rate of 68.54%. The quantitative data was constituted of ‘Rahim’s Organizational Conflict Inventory-II (ROCI-II)’, and ‘Rosenberg Sel-Esteem Scale (RSES)’ analyzed. Study results demonstrated that there were significant differences in some conflict management styles among study groups according to gender, marital status, age, years of work experience, and work status; there were relationships between self-esteem and integrating, avoiding, and obliging; additionally, self-esteem affected these styles.
