Abstract:

Joseph’s story is situated in the Genesis, a part of the Bible, and also in the Qur’an. We have discussed this story in the Qur’an dividing into seven chapters and compared with the story of the Bible. We have seen that the Qur’anic story has differences from the story of the Bible because of three different points. These are some phenomenons of the story, phrase and admonitions. These differences abolish the thesis that the Qur’anic stories were quated from Bible. Some narratives about this Qur’anic story have been seen in tefsir books (the Qur’anic exeges). Some narratives are extremly inconsisting with the Qur’an. Because of this reason the commentators of Qur’an severely critized these narratives and announced that they were made up by Haşviyye group. Some of the narratives not inconsisting with Quran are problematic in view of truthfulness. The effect of the Bible on these narratives about this story of the Qur’an have been partially percevied.
