The research was carried out in order to illustrate the relationship between the service industry employees’ emotional intelligence, which can be defined as the one’s ability to understand, manage, and direct his/her or other individuals’ emotions and their organizational cynicism described as the employees’ negative attitudes towards the organization they work in, hatred to the organization, or their opinions and feelings that the actions carried on in the organization are out of righteousness and fairness. To that end, a survey has been conducted including the public and private sector employees operating in service sector across Turkey. The survey results showed that there is a negative relation between employees’ emotional intelligence and emotional cynicism, a sub-dimension of organizational cynicism, and so the employees with higher emotional intelligence have lower emotional cynicism. In addition to this, significant relationships between sector and emotional intelligence and also between sector, status and organizational cynicism can be seen as a result of demographic variables.
