Türkiye-Birleşik Krallık (İngiltere) ilişkileri, kamuoyunda hakkında pek fazla yazılıp çizilmemesine karşın, son yıllarda gayet iyi bir seviyeye gelmiş ve her iki tarafın daüst düzey yöneticilerinin ifadesiyle ‘altın çağ’ını yaşamaya başlamıştır. İkili ekonomik ilişkilerin son yıllarda -küresel ekonomik krize rağmen- istikrarlı gelişimi, iki ülkenin birbirlerine destek veren AB politikaları, Orta Doğu’da cereyan eden gelişmelere karşı gösterilen benzer reaksiyonlar, Kıbrıs Sorunu bağlamında büyük ölçüde aynı çizgide buluşan yaklaşımlar, son dönemde Ukrayna ve Suriye’de gözlemlenen Rus saldırganlığına karşı geliştirilen ortak tehdit algılaması ve iki ülke arasında husumet yaratan spesifik bir konunun olmaması, bu olumlu ilişkilerdeki kilit faktörlerdir. Ayrıca İngiliz muhafazakârlığının Türkiye’deki sağ ve İslamcı hareketler açısından oldukça olumlu algılanan genel çizgisi de, son yıllarda her iki ülkede de muhafazakâr-sağ iktidarların bulunması bağlamında ilişkileri güçlendirici bir rol oynamıştır. Bu çalışmada, Türkiye-İngiltere ilişkilerini karakterize eden önemli konular, son 5-6 yıllık döneme odaklanılarak, medya taraması ve söylem analizi metotları kullanılarak analiz edilmeye çalışılacaktır.
