This study deals with the group of people called ehl-i Kur’an (people of the Qur’an) who accept only the Quran as a basic Islamic source and examines their rising, their basic thoughts concerning hadith and their arguments on their views. While some of the representatives of this group who came out from sub-Indian Continent in the nineteenth century reject totally hadith and sunnah, the others who called Muslim Modernists accept only sound hadihts (mutavâtir hadith) that their numbers may reach at only ten. Although this article does not examine their views in detail, it tries to evaluate their basic thoughts concerning hadith that are basically negative.
