The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between attitudes of university students towards critical thinking and research anxieties. Besides, it is also studied that whether attitudes towards critical thinking and research anxieties become different according to the variables of age, gender and having taken part or not in any previous research activities. The study group of this research which is a scanning model is formed by 128 undergraduates from Ankara University Faculty of Educational Sciences. “California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory (CCTDI”) and “Research Anxiety Scale” are used in the data–gathering of this study. Pearson Moments Product Correlation Coefficient, t test and Kruskall Wallis H Test are used in the analysis of the data. The findings of the research put forth expressive relationships for consideration which are between all the sub-dimensions and total scores of the research anxiety scale and the scale of attitudes towards critical thinking. While the analytical, broad-mindedness and CCDTI total scores differ according to gender of the students, the situation of having taken part or not in any previous research activities causes expressive difference in self confidence sub-scale. Therefore, the comparisons related to the ages of the students bring up expressive differences both in research anxieties and analytical, curiosity, self confidence and CCTDI total scores.
