Abstract:

Abstract:

The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between adolescent levels of aggression and conflict resolution and social skills. It has also been studied the levels of conflict resolution and social skills of aggression. The research group consists of 362 (middle school 6.7 and 8th classes) students who are studying in the 2017-2018 educational year. The study used the scale of conflict-solving skills, the scale of social skills and the scale of aggression. The research was carried out in accordance with the general scan model and the analysis of the data applied visual statistics, Pearson correlation ratio and hierarchical regression analysis in accordance with the purpose of the research. There were significant negative, significant positive relationships between the points that the participants obtained from the scale of aggression and the scale of conflict resolution, which are the lower dimensions of the integration and compliance points. There was also a significant negative relationship between the participants’ aggressive scores and the scores they obtained from the social skill scale. Participants’ social skill scale points and conflict-solving scale points of integration and avoidance points from the bottom dimensions have also found significant positive, governance points significant negative relationships. The hierarchical regression analysis shows that social skills revealed 13% of the total variance of aggression alone, while social skills and conflict resolution in the second step of the model revealed 23% of the total variance of aggression. The findings were discussed with the work done and presented in suggestions.

Abstract:

The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between aggression levels of adolescents and conflict resolution / social skills. In addition, the level of conflict resolution and social skills to predict aggression was investigated. The research group consisted of 362 (middle school 6th, 7th and 8th grade) students studying in the 2017-2018 academic year. Conflict Resolution Skills Scale, Social Skill Scale and Aggression Scale were used in the study. The research was carried out in accordance with the general survey model and descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient and gradual regression analysis were used to analyze the data in line with the study. Significant positive relationships were found between forcing scores; and significant negative relationships were found between the scores obtained from the aggression scale and collaboration and accommodation scores which were sub-dimensions of conflict resolution scale. There was also a significant negative correlation between the aggression scores of the participants and the scores obtained from the social skill scale. Significant negative relationships were found between dominance scores; and significant positive relationships were found between social skill scale scores of the participants and integration and avoidance scores which were the sub-dimensions of conflict resolution scale. As a result of the hierarchical regression analysis, it is seen that social skills alone accounted for 13% of the variance in aggression, while social skills and conflict resolution in the second step explained 23% of the variance in aggression. The findings were discussed together with the studies and recommendations were made.
