Abstract:

The aim of this study is to study the impact of problem-extension activities on the problem-solving success of students and on superintelligence skills. In this direction, the research has been modeled on the experimental pattern of the pre-test-final test control group. The research was conducted for nine weeks with a total of 61 students, including 31 in the experiment and 30 in the control group, in a primary school in the Rize Central District in the second semester of the 2015-2016 academic year. While the study applied problem-extension activities to students in the experimental group, there was no interference with the learning process of students in the control group. The data used in the research; problem-solving success test is obtained using the interdisciplinary knowledge and skill scale. The research found that students in the experiment group had an increase in both problem-solving success at the end of the application process as well as the level of supernova knowledge and skills. It was also observed that this increase was higher in the experimental group than in the control group. In addition, both the control and the experimental test and the end-test problem-solving success test and the superintelligence knowledge and skill scale have been shown to have a high level of correlation. According to the results obtained, the problem expansion activities have been determined to increase both problem-solving success and superintelligence knowledge and skills.
