Abstract:

Abstract:

The Kam/Shamans, who were in an important position in the life of the Turks before Islamism, were subjected to a solution in terms of the duties they carried on them after Islamism. Many of the duties carried out by these people who have been famous with the names of Kam/Shaman in the historical process have begun to be carried out by those who have been mentioned with different names under the influence of the new religion and the new socio-cultural conditions arising thereafter. One of their prior responsibilities before Islam was the treatment of diseases. In this context, the duty of treatment that Kam/Shaman performs is also taken over by the public doctors referred to in various names. This is one of the people’s doctors. The Turkish public medicine has an important place. Those who treat one or more diseases using more religious-magical methods, such as camels/shamans, have gained their power of supply in various ways. One of them is a dream. The dreams, which have important functions in many cultures and religions, have been a beginning for some January to win this vassf, as in the Turkish culture the entrance to Kamish/Shamanism and the beginning of love. Within the tradition of self-righteousness, the dream has given the person a new identity and personality, it has been given the duty to carry out the duty of providing, it has been given the duty to carry out the duty of providing, it has brought this power, the ability, which is hidden in the depths of the subconsciousness of the individual who is inclined to self-righteousness, it has been given the opportunity to use the accumulation of the methods and techniques of treatment that he consciously or unconsciously obtained, it has reinforced the duty, it has been registered, it has given him a divine permission to use this ability and power, and in this context it has increased its value in society.

Abstract:

Occupying a pivotal position in Turkish life prior to Islam, folk healers or shamans, were subjected to disintegration in their tasks they took over subsequent to conversion to Islam. Many tasks carried out by these folk healers began to be conducted by other individuals dubbed different names as an outcome of the socio-cultural conditions emerging from the newly adopted religion and accordingly. One of their foremost missions was to heal diseases. In this respect, the folk healers given different names overtook the medical missions carried out by these shamans. Healing centres has had a pivotal role within Turkish folk medicine. Healing one or more diseases benefitting heavily from religious-magical powers like shamans, these clinics acquired their healing powers through various means, one of which is dreams. Having significant functions and roles in different religions and cultures, dreams represented an initiation of these centres’ healing authority acquisition as well as being an introduction to shamanism and devotion to god. Dreams in the tradition of folk medicine centres earned individuals an identity, informed him about his entitlement to healing profession, unearthed the innate healing ability he acquired consciously or unconsciously, reinforced and endorsed his healing powers and got his the authority of these capabilities, thereby enhancing his dignity in the eye of the society.
