1798 yılında Napolyon’un Mısır’ı işgali Arap dünyası için yeni bir dönemin başlangıcı olmuştur. Bu dönemde Arap dünyası yeni edebî türlerle tanışmış, başlarda Batı dünyasından Arapçaya tercüme ve taklit edilen eserler zamanla yerini özgün eserlere bırakmıştır. Bu çalışmada Kuveytli öykü yazarı Leylâ el-Osmân’ın öykücülüğü hakkında kısaca bilgi verilmek suretiyle el-Hubbu lehu suverun adlı öykü seçkisinden et-Tâsa adlı öykünün Arapçadan Türkçeye çevirisi sunulmuştur. Eserlerinde kadın kahramanlar kullanmayı tercih eden ve kadın sorunlarına vurgu yapan Leylâ el-Osmân, Kuveyt öykücülüğü için önemli bir kadın yazardır.
