Aynı dili konuşan, ortak değer, inanç, dine mensup, ortak tarihi geçmişe sahip iki ülke Kazakistan ve Türkiye’dir. Bu iki ülke arasındaki kültürel bağlar ve kardeşlik ilişkileri stratejik ortaklık, müttefiklik boyutunda olmasına rağmen iki ülke arasındaki ticaret ifade edilen ilişkilerin düzeyinden oldukça uzaktır. Türkiye tarafından Hindistan'dan bir yılda ithal edilen motorinin ticaret hacmi Kazakistan ile gerçekleştirilen yıllık toplam ticaret hacmine neredeyse eşit olması bu duruma bir örnek teşkil etmektedir. Kazakistan'ın bir kara ülkesi olması ve açık denizlere uzaklığı ikili ticari ilişkileri kısıtlamaktadır. Buna karşın özellikle karşılıklı seferlere yeni başlayan Bakü-Tiflis-Kars (BTK) demiryolu ticari ilişkileri geliştirmesi beklenmektedir. Kazakistan'ın iç bölgelerinden Aktav Limanına ve oradan BTK demiryolu aracılığıyla Mersin'e ulaşan yükler ve karşılıklı seferler ticari açıdan önemli bir gelişmedir. Aynı zamanda bu gelişme Kazakistan'a Akdeniz kıyısı ülkeler aracılığıyla Güney Avrupa, Kuzey Afrika ve Ortadoğu'ya erişimini sağlayarak yeni pazarlara ulaşım imkânı sağlayacaktır. Yapılan bu çalışmada Bakü-Tiflis-Kars demiryolu Kazakistan-Türkiye arasında karşılıklı çıkarlarının korunması temelinde ticaret ilişkilerinin arttırılması ile mevcut potansiyellerinin değerlendirilmesi ve oluşacak ticaretin kültürel etkileşimine olan etkisi araştırılmaktadır.
Kazakhstan and Turkey are the two countries speaking the same language, sharing common values, belief and religion and having a common historical past. Although the cultural ties and brotherhood relations between these two countries are in the size of strategic partnership and alliance, the trade between the two countries is far from the level of the expressed ties. The fact that the trade volume of diesel imported by Turkey from India for a year is almost equal to the total annual volume of trade carried out by Kazakhstan is an example of this situation. The fact that Kazakhstan is an inland country and away from open seas restricts the bilateral trade relations. However, it is expected that the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway, which has recently begun with mutual travel, will develop commercial relations. The cargo, arriving at the port of Aktav from Kazakhstan's inner regions and then to Mersin via the BTK railway from there, and the mutual services are significant developments from commercial point of view. At the same time, this development will provide the access to new markets by enabling Kazakhstan to reach Southern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East through the Mediterranean coastal countries. In the study, increasing the commercial ties with the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway on the basis of the protection of mutual interests between Kazakhstan and Turkey, the assessment of existing potential and the effect of the formed trade on the cultural interaction have been investigated.
