Felsefe tarihinde kaleme aldığı eserlerle önemli çığırlar açmış olan Kant’ın kalıcı barışın sağlanması ile ilgili önemli fikirler ileri sürdüğü bilinmektedir. Onun kalıcı barışın sağlanması bağlamında ele aldığı fikirlerde kritik, analitik ve sentezci bir anlayış benimsediği anlaşılmaktadır. Aynı zamanda onun temel felsefe karakterinin önemli ölçüde barışla ilgili düşüncelerine yansıdığı dikkat çekmektedir. Bununla birlikte onun barış teorisi, kendinden önce ortaya çıkmış barış anlayışları ile kıyaslandığında, bazı özgünlükleri de içinde barındırmaktadır. Sürekli barışın tesis edilmesinin amaçlanması, negatif barış yerine pozitif barışın inşa edilmeye çalışılması, barışın temellendirilmesinde din yerine hukuk argümanına başvurulması ve ulusal/kıtasal barış anlayışından evrensel barışa geçilmesi onun teorisinin özgünlüğü olarak karşımıza çıkan hususlardır. Diğer taraftan Kant’ın barış teorisi bağlamında ileri sürdüğü fikirlerin sonraki dönemlerde popüler olmaya başladığı görülmektedir. XX. yüzyılda kurulmaya çalışılan uluslararası barış organizasyonları bunun en bariz örneğidir. Onun barış teorisinin sonradan önemsenmeye başlanması, ele aldığı fikirlerin özgün olması ile de yakından ilgilidir.
It is known that Kant, who made important breakthroughs with the works he wrote in the history of philosophy, has put forward important ideas about the establishment of lasting peace. It is understood that he has adopted a critical, analytical and synthesis understanding in his ideas in the context of achieving lasting peace. At the same time, it is noteworthy that his basic philosophy characteristic is largely reflected in his thoughts on peace. However, his theory of peace contains some originalities in comparison to the conceptions of peace that emerged before him. The aim of establishing continuous peace, trying to build positive peace instead of negative peace, referring to the argument of law instead of religion in the foundation of peace, and moving from national/continental peace to universal peace are the originality of his theory. On the other hand, Kant’s ideas in the context of the theory of peace seem to be popular in later periods. The most important example of this is the international peace organizations that were tried to be established in the 20th century. The subsequent importance of his theory of peace is closely related to the originality of his ideas.
