So many results that aren't mine?

Hacı Selim Ağa, His Endowment, Library and Sıbyan Mektebi

Abstract:

Endowment foundations, having a great impact on our culture and civilization, is one of the significant indicators of Turkish philanthropy. There are some interesting works that were endowed by people from different social classes. In the present study, Hacı Selim Ağa, worked in different positions in Ottoman bureaucracy, and his endowment was under scrutiny. Hacı Selim Ağa, lived between 1712-1789 and worked in different positions during the reign of III. Mustafa and I. Abdülhamid, was burried in the garden of one of his endowments’ library in Üsküdar. He founded his endowment in 1782 in Üsküdar in order to contribute to the education system which was then one of the most demanding needs of the society. The present study focuses on his life, his endowment, the history of his mektep and library in educational respects
