Bu çalışmada Türkiye’de gelir, fiyat, reel efektif döviz kuru ve işgücü maliyeti değişkenlerinin işsizlik üzerindeki etkisi araştırılmıştır. Söz konusu ekonomik faktörlerin işsizlik oranı üzerindeki etkisi ve bu etkilerin yönünün belirlenmesi ile politika geliştiricilere makro ve mikro anlamda öneriler geliştirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. 2005:Q1-2016:Q3 döneminin incelendiği bu çalışmada kullanılan veriler Türkiye İstatistik Kurumu ve Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Merkez Bankası istatistiklerinden elde edilmiştir. Bu değişkenler ile işsizlik arasındaki kısa ve uzun dönemli ilişki ARDL sınır testi ve hata düzeltme modeli (ECM) yaklaşımı ile tahmin edilmiştir. Ulaşılan bulgular, uzun dönemde gelir düzeyi ile işsizlik arasında negatif, reel efektif döviz kuru ve işgücü maliyeti ile işsizlik arasında pozitif yönlü ilişkinin olduğunu göstermiştir. İşgücü maliyetinin kısa dönemde, fiyat düzeyinin ise her iki dönemde de işsizlik oranı üzerinde herhangi bir etkisine rastlanılmamıştır. Bununla birlikte, incelenilen dönem itibariyle işsizliğin en önemli belirleyicisinin reel gelir düzeyi olduğu görülmüştür. Çalışma bulgularının, Türkiye’de ekonomik büyümeyi artırıcı, işgücü maliyetlerini düşürücü ve reel efektif döviz kurunun aşırı yükselmesini engelleyici politikaların önemini vurguladığı düşünülmektedir.
This study has studied the impact of income in Turkey, price, real effective exchange rate and labour cost variables on unemployment. The findings have shown that there is a positive relationship between long-term income and unemployment, real effective exchange rate and labour costs and unemployment. In the short period, the cost of labour and the price level have not been seen any impact on the unemployment rate in both periods. However, from the examined period, the important determiner of unemployment is the real income level. The findings of the study are believed to emphasize the importance of policies that boost economic growth in Turkey, lower labour costs and prevent the excessive rise of the real effective exchange rate.
This study examines the effects of income, price, real effective exchange rates and labour costs variables on unemployment. It is aimed to determine the impact of these economic factors on the unemployment rate and to determine the direction of these effects and to develop macro and micro recommendations to policy makers. It is estimated that short and long run relations between unemployment and fore mentioned variables which are cover period 2005:Q1 to 2016:Q3 by ARDL bounds test and error correction model (ECM) in the study. Findings show that between unemployment and income level relation is negative and between real effective exchange rate, labour costs, and unemployment is positive. In addition, labour costs have no effect on unemployment in the short run and price level has no impact both in the short and long run. Besides, the most important determinant of unemployment in the given period is real income level. Findings of the study emphasise policies that increasing economic growth, decreasing labour costs and hindering excessive real effective exchange rates are important for Turkey.
