Bu çalışmanın amacı liselerde dil bölümünde okuyan 11 ve 12. sınıf öğrencilerinin İngilizce öğretmeni yeterliliklerine yönelik görüşlerini almaktır. Bu çalışma Sivas ilinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışma grubunu dil sınıflarında okuyan öğrenciler oluşturmaktadır. Örneklem rastgele örneklem metodu ile seçilerek üç farklı Anadolu lisesindeki öğrencilerden oluşmuştur. Çalışmaya 40 öğrenci katılmıştır. Veriler açık uçlu altı sorunun yer aldığı anket formu ile toplanmıştır. Veriler içerik analizi yöntemi ile çözümlenmiş, temalar oluşturulmuş ve bu temalara ilişkin kodlar belirlenmiştir. Çalışmanın sonucunda İngilizce öğretiminin etkili olması için dersin pratik odaklı olması gerektiği, gramer gibi soyut bilgilerden ziyade okuma, konuşma, dinleme ve yazma etkinliklerine daha fazla yer verilmesi gerektiği görülmüştür. Ayrıca sınıf ortamının önemli olduğu, eğlenceli bir ortamda işlenen dersin daha verimli olacağı, çeşitli yöntem ve tekniklerden faydalanılarak öğretimin çeşitlendirilmesi gerektiği, görsel ve işitsel materyallerin kullanılmasına ağırlık verilmesi gerektiği görülmüştür. Etkili İngilizce öğretimi için öğretmenin de alanına hâkim olması gerektiği, pedagojik bilgisinin önemli olduğu, karakter olarak kibar, sevecen, arkadaş canlısı ve olumlu bir kişiliğe sahip olmasının önemli olduğu ortaya konulmuştur.
The aim of this study is to obtain opinions on the qualifications of the students of 11th and 12th classes studying in the language department in high schools. This work was carried out in Sivas. The study group is formed by students studying in language classes. The sample was selected by the random sample method and consisted of three different students in the Anadolu high school. 40 students participated in the study. The data was collected with the survey form that included the six open end questions. The data is analyzed by the method of content analysis, the themes are created and the codes related to these themes are determined. The study found that the course should be practically focused to be effective in teaching English, and that more space should be given to reading, speaking, listening and writing activities rather than abstract grammatics. It has also been seen that the class environment is important, that the course processed in a fun environment will be more efficient, that the teaching should be diversified by taking advantage of various methods and techniques, and that the use of visual and hearing materials should be emphasized. For effective English teaching, it has been shown that the teacher must also dominate the field, that pedagogical knowledge is important, that it is important to have a kind, loving, friendly and positive personality as a character.
The aim of this study is to get the opinions of 11th and 12th grade students studying in the language department of high schools towards effective English language teacher qualifications. This study was carried out in Sivas province. The study group of the study consists of students studying in language classes. The sample was selected by random sampling method and consisted of 40 students from three different Anatolian high schools. The data were collected by a questionnaire including six open-ended questions and analysed by content analysis method. As a result of the study, in order to be effective in teaching English, it was revealed that the course should be practically oriented, rather than abstract information such as grammar and speaking, listening and writing activities should be included more. In addition, it is seen that the classroom environment is important, the course will be more efficient in a fun environment, the teaching should be diversified by using various methods and techniques, and it should be focused on the use of visual and audio materials. Also, it was revealed that the teacher should have a good command of his field and his pedagogical knowledge is important. Teacher should be polite, friendly and positive in character.
