Türkçe, ilk dönemlerinden bu yana barındırdığı fiiller ve bu fiillerin kullanımlarıyla ön plana çıkan bir dildir. Türkçede herhangi bir kavram alanına ait yüzlerce fiil kullanılabilir. Bununla birlikte Türkçenin tarihî dönemlerinde yazılan kimi eserlerde tespit edilen fiiller, bugün, Türkiye Türkçesinde ya yaşam alanı bulamamış ya da birçok ses değişikliğinin etkisiyle tanınmaz hâle gelmiştir. Bu yazıda ele alacağımız ımızġan- "uyumak, uyuklamak" fiili de bunlardan biridir. ımızġan- fiili hakkında kaynaklarda çok fazla bilgi bulunmamakla beraber, sözcüğün yapısının çözülmesine yardımcı olacak kayıtlar da yok değildir. Özellikle Tarama Sözlüğü’nde kaydedilen veriler, fiilin yapısal çözümüne yardımcı olmaktadır. Bu makalede, ımızġan- fiilinin ımız "Uyuşukluğu anlatan yansıma kök" + +GA- "İsimden fiil yapan ek" + -n- "Dönüşlülük çatı eki" gelişimini gösterdiği ve Türkiye Türkçesindeki mızmız / mızıkçı gibi sözcüklerin ımızġan- fiili ile ilgili bağlantıları üzerinde durulmuştur.
Turkish is a language that has been hosted since its early periods and is a language that comes to the forefront with the use of these facts.
