Öleng which means “song, folk song” in historical and etymological dictionaries, primarily discussed in care of etymological and semantic in this paper, and its different forms and meanings in the historical and contemporary Turkish dialects has also been presented. Fuad Köprülü had discussed firtsly that öleng is a literary term. Fuad Köprülü had inserted some verses from the field of East Turkish that are in Nawai’s Mizan al-Awzan and in Babur’s Tractate of Aruz, “tuyug” called in the third part of his article. And also he had dealed with ölengs. In Ali Shir Nawai’s İskendername the chorused way of saying which has been finished within word of “öleng” and has been placed so to say ıt is reminding that has been sung songs for goddess of the water “Ölenk”, is indicate the word of “song, ballad” when considered in relation to the meaning in the form of “öleng” suggests that expanding the sense of space in a type name. In addition to, species of this poetry used as a literary term in Eastern Turkic field that is unique. The first time its properties mentioned in the copies in Paris and Tehran of Babur’s Tractate of Aruz. In thiş study, the lines which are in these copies included and these were compared with contemporary Turkic fields’s ölengs; so discussed about evaluations of etymological and semantic of the word and Köprülü’s some of the deficiencies about “öleng” that are be derived from just read in Paris based on copies of copies has been resolved with Tehran.
